At Cornell Farms, all the cattle are now out on pasture and the tiling and seeding is done. We now start the cycle of music, markets, haying and chickens. Still busy but our spring tasks have now been completed,

Sean Ashby will be the first Barn Concert of the season at Cornell Farms on July 10th beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Ashby is North America’s go-to guitarist. He has played and recorded with Sarah McLachlan, Swollen Members, Mae Moore, Rita Chiarelli, Lee Aaron, Ginger (former Grapes of Wrath), and Todd Fancey of the New Pornographers. Chances are, if you’ve had the radio on today, you’ve heard his guitar playing.

Ashby has been called a "one man band with 7 guitars".  He has performed on The Grammy Awards, Tonite Show with Jay Leno, Saturday Night Live, David Letterman Show, and the Conan O’Brien Show.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  They are available from the Fort Frances Public Library, Tompkins’ Hardware, Lidkea Optometry Services, Cornell Farms and electronically at

(Suzie Vinnick will be at Cornell Farms on August 7th so mark your calendar for that event as well.)

People have been busy this spring, picking up a Cornell Farms' beef pak for the summer BBQ season. The addition of grain in our cattle feed, helps make our paks and sides tender and flavourful. And for those of you concerned about dietary fat, we do not over-fatten our cattle. All our meat is butchered, cut and wrapped in provincially inspected facilities and dry aged for 14 days.

A pak includes steaks, ground beef and a few boneless roasts, just right for the BBQ as well an other cuts popular for busy people. We assist with delivery throughout
Northwestern Ontario.

For some of the cuts you might not be familiar with, we do have some recipe ideas on our website.

All of our regional markets have started.
The Thunder Bay Country Market  - Cornell Farms is there every Wednesday and Saturday.
The Kenora Market - Cornell Farms is there every Wednesday.
The Sioux Lookout Market - Cornell Farms is there every other Friday.
We will start our visits to Red Lake in late July. Watch our website or Facebook or Twitter for exact dates,

Please give us a week's notice for any special orders so we have time to get them ready. It's a busy time around the farm and we don't want anyone to be disappointed.
