The Farm
2022 was another busy years for all of us. Farming activities at Cornell Farms - calving, planting, harvest, etc. continued as usual. We started out with three employees at the beginning of the summer but by the end, were down to one. Annie was with us for a few months but when she received a job offer, she headed back home to Ireland in August. Grace was in her second year working for us but had an accident and cut her foot quite seriously after her first month of work. After surgery in Thunder Bay, she is fully recovered. Annemarie has worked for us full-time for a few years now. We almost lost her as well with an adventure between a rock cut and our van while returning from Thunder Bay. No injuries, thank goodness! It just meant we all had to work a bit harder to keep up this year.
Meat and cattle sales continued their upward swings. Farm markets were operating again as in previous years.

Garnet and Michelle

The family is all well. Garnet is the Environmental Superintendent for New Gold - Rainy River Project. Michelle is still on maternity leave from her job as Pharmacy Technician at the local drug store in Fort Frances.

Rebecca and Kelsey

Kelsey continues working as Brew Master at Flux Brewery in Scotland, Ontario and Rebecca continues to work as a large animal Veterinarian in Kirkton, Ontario. She also cycles for charity. The big news is they are expecting their first child in February.

The Cornells

Kim's parents, Gordon and Jeannine Cornell are both doing well and still living at home just 1 mile over from the farm. They will be 94 and 90 in January! They traveled to Airdrie, Alberta with the family to attend their grandson, Jaydon's wedding. It was a great time to see all the Cornells, including some nieces from Toronto.
The Clysdales

Pat's parents, Earle and Joanne Clysdale are also doing well in Mooretown, Pat visited a couple of times this year. One was for Earle's surprise 93rd birthday party. Garnet's family arrived a few weeks later for a visit while on their way to the wedding of Garnet's university roommate.
Just a few highlights for the Clysdale Family - Marie has a new granddaughter, Lia; Helen's son Murray has moved to Germany; Brenda's son Riley got married and another son Reid has been busy with the Red Cross in Newfoundland.
Traveling Galore

There seemed to be quite a bit of travelling this year. Rebecca and Kelsey came up for Aiden's baptism. Pat and Kim travelled to Minneapolis for the North American Brewers' Conference; to Niagara for the Ontario Brewers' Conference; to Canmore, Alberta for a wedding and a week later to the second wedding in Mooretown, Ontario; a quick trip to Toronto for a Mentoring Conference and to meet up with Rebecca and Kelsey and a couple more trips to Mooretown to see Pat's family. Pat even made it to Orillia to see her Aunt Muriel, Sarnia to see her Aunt Annie and of course Aunt Noreen is still in Mooretown. All are still living in their own homes.

We couldn't resist adding a picture of Rebecca finishing her 200 + kilometre fundraising ride between Toronto and Niagara Falls.

Newfoundland Adventure

The big adventure was Pat's trip to Newfoundland in June with her sisters Marie and Dianne in Marie's 1993 converted vane (yes, it's still going). They picked her up in Toronto and they headed for a 3+ week adventure. Near the end of the trip, they met up with Pat's parents and her sister Helen and niece Shannon for a 4 day weekend with nephew Reid. It was hiking, icebergs, whales, puffins, sea glass, ice cream, fossils, felting, thrombolites (look it up), Vikings, moose, dive-bombing birds, capelin, winery, breweries, lighthouses, root cellars, pottery, music, fog, rain, wind, history, old cars, ferries, and Magnetic Hill (not Newfoundland but an adventure all the same)!
Pat and Kim

Kim continues to travel throughout the region for Farmers' Markets on top of all his farming duties. He is also a member of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Board. Pat continues to work as a Justice of the Peace based in the Fort Frances Courthouse and is now the Local Administrative Justice of the Peace for the Rainy River and Kenora Districts and a mentor for new Justices of the Peace. Pat continues to play piano for church each Sunday.

We couldn't resist adding a picture of Charlotte in her flower girl dress.
